Oak Hill Project
A dead corner by the window was doing nothing but holding a laundry basket. It is now a built-in banquette, and it is where the family eats every meal that is not a holiday.

A corner nobody used became the seat everybody wants.
A dead corner by the window was doing nothing but holding a laundry basket. It is now a built-in banquette, and it is where the family eats every meal that is not a holiday.
Gray painted shaker in a warm undertone, glass tile laid in a running bond, and quartz counters templated after the cabinets were set. The banquette storage swallows the small-appliance overflow that used to live on the counter.
The budget went to cabinetry and lighting and stopped short of the appliance upgrade the owners had assumed they needed. Two years on, they have not mentioned the appliances once.
